No one expected Democrats to win most of the statewide offices when election night began. But as the results rolled out over the next few weeks, it became clear they would.

And here we are, looking at a new year in which Arizona will have a Democratic governor, secretary of state and likely attorney general — not to mention a newly elected Democratic U.S. senator in Mark Kelly.

But as the party here celebrates its major victories, there are questions about why it happened and if it's repeatable in the future when they aren’t up against a Trump-endorsed slate of election-denying candidates.
