GOP attorney: Election denialism is hurting Arizona Republicans

Arizona voters overwhelmingly rejected election denying candidates in November.

Unless Republicans can move beyond unfounded claims of fraud, their political fortunes will continue to be muted. That’s according to election law expert Ben Ginsberg, a noted GOP attorney.

"Election denialism is a failure for the Republican party," Ginsberg told a crowd Wednesday in Phoenix. "It’s not helping the Republican party win races. It’s a failure because there is no evidence of election fraud sufficient to overturn an election."

He said candidates can and should inspect the system before the election, but they cannot be "sour grapes" after the vote.

"You have every right to ask for a recount of the vote, you have every right to use the state systems on contest, but at the end of the day, under the rule of law and for the smooth running of the country, you have an obligation to accept the result," Ginsberg said. "The idea of candidates making unsubstantiated and unproven charges about the reliability of the election system is really harmful to a bedrock principle of our country, which is there is a peaceful transfer of power."
