An attorney for Gov.-elect Katie Hobbs is arguing that claims from losing candidate Kari Lake alleging intentional misconduct in the election should be dismissed because they are no more than speculation.

In new legal filings, Hobbs’ attorney told a Maricopa County judge that Arizona law requires people who challenge election results to demonstrate fraud or official misconduct altered the outcome of the race.

Furthermore, he said Lake’s argument does not prove that she would have won the election had printer issues in Maricopa County not occurred.

Lake has alleged that those printer issues on Election Day were intentional to disenfranchise Republican voters.

But in a separate legal filing, attorneys for Maricopa County said Lake failed to identify who the intentional actor was, or what actions were taken to affect ballot printers, or where they occurred.
