A windy, dangerous stretch of interstate in northern Sonora is now officially closed.
With the exception of thrill seekers, no one is going to miss the infamous Curvas de Quijano, a narrow northbound stretch of the most important highway in Sonora about 25 miles south of Nogales.
With the recent inauguration of the new stretch of four-lane interstate that bypasses the dangerous curves, no one will ever have to drive them again.
Sonoran Gov. Alfonso Durazo described the replaced section as a weak link in the state’s transportation infrastructure that complicated the movement of people and goods.
