Attorneys for Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake will be in court Dec. 19, arguing last month’s election had enough irregularities and fraud that Lake should be the next governor, not Katie Hobbs.

This comes after a similar lawsuit from defeated secretary of state candidate Mark Finchem was thrown out Dec. 16.

Arizona Secretary of State and Gov.-elect Katie Hobbs has asked to throw out the case.

During the hearing, attorneys for Hobbs said there is no legal precedent or law that would allow the courts to grant Kari Lake’s requests. In a 70-page filing, Lake is requesting to be declared the winner, or have Maricopa County redo its election. 

Her case does not state fraud was at play.

Her attorney cited election day printer problems at some voting locations. 

However, Attorney Thomas Liddy for the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors said there was no evidence for that. 

"On Nov. 8, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Timothy Ryan found that there was no evidence that anyone who should have been able to vote at any one of the 223 vote centers was prevented from voting." Liddy said. 

Judge Peter Thompson did not give a date for his decision.

“I’ll take the matter under advisement and render my ruling as quickly as possible, so. I understand the time constraints.” Thompson said.

Hobbs is scheduled to be inaugurated on Jan. 5.
