Andrew Pielage displays his “Sacred Spaces” photography at Taliesin West in Scottsdale.

Andrew Pielage began as a landscape photographer. But, today his career is focused more on buildings than land. Or maybe it’s both.

Pielage has become a leading photographer of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architecture teaching workshops, working with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, publishing books, and traveling around the world to capture images of every remaining Wright building there is.

It’s a project The Show has been documenting since the beginning. Pielage said he first was drawn to Wright’s architecture because of its interplay between landscape and building — how Wright’s buildings harmonize with the land. That’s what he strives to capture in his photos.

Now he has a new exhibition on display through the end of the month at Taliesin West here in the Valley called Sacred Spaces. In it, he explores Wright’s concept of sacred spaces — from nature to churches.

The Show got a tour of the exhibition from Pielage himself.
