How disinformation and misdirection have shaped the development of the Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is one of the most visited national parks in the country — the National Park Service says more than 4.5 million people visited in 2021.

It also has been a popular spot for proposed development, including mining operations.

Our next guest has looked into some of those proposals, as well as the kinds of rhetoric and sometimes misinformation that’s been associated with them.

Matthew Goodwin teaches humanities classes at NAU. He spoke with The Show and began by talking about how these discussions shape public perception of environmental issues.
