Mesa is holding three virtual community meetings to address housing instability, including the lack of affordable housing. The forums are designed to help vulnerable communities with their housing needs.

In April 2021, the federal government gave Mesa $5.6 million to assist individuals, such as those experiencing homelessness or fleeing domestic violence and sex trafficking.

Michelle Albanese is the housing and community development director for the city and explained the HOME-ARP Allocation Plan.

“The plan is specifically going to identify current needs and unmet needs and the best potential uses for the funds to address the challenges that have been identified," she said.

The plan will not specify who receives funding but will be used to determine the services and programs Mesa will potentially fund in the future.

The three meetings will take place on Jan. 18 and 19. An online survey is also available until Feb. 2 to gather input.
