The University of Phoenix has had its fair share of troubles over the years. From federal investigations to settlements worth millions of dollars, the for-profit online college has had a rocky ride.

At its peak in 2010, the University of Phoenix had 470,000 students enrolled, according to Inside Higher Ed. But by 2019, its reputation had been beat up and enrollment was down.

But now, there’s a potential deal from an unlikely source: The University of Arkansas.

The university system has created a nonprofit entity and is in the process of shaping a possible deal to buy the University of Phoenix.

Debra Hale Shelton broke the story for the Arkansas Times, and The Show spoke with her more about it.
