A combination of rain and melting snow is leading to flood risks in northern Arizona. Officials expect Yavapai and Gila counties to bear the brunt of the risk.

Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon are receiving 3 to 5 inches of snow from this latest weather event. That will turn to rain by the afternoon and then more snow Wednesday morning.

Evan Laguardia is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Flagstaff.

"Welcome spring, but winter won’t quit," Laguardia said.

Water levels are rising south of Flagstaff where evacuations were ordered just days ago around Oak Creek and Sedona.

"And they should continue pretty much all day and pretty much Wednesday until the precipitation stops," Laguardia said.

Yavapai County emergency officials are warning residents to prepare for possible evacuations.
