Arizona has joined a number of other states challenging a ruling from a federal judge in Texas late last week that suspended the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of mifepristone.

That decision, if it stands, could make the drug used in abortions unavailable nationwide and could have implications for the other work the FDA does.

Arizona was also part of a separate lawsuit in Washington state in which a federal judge there — also late last week — ordered the government to not make any changes that would restrict the medication in those states that were part of the suit.

The Show spoke about the current legal landscape surrounding mifepristone with Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, including the status of the pill’s availability in the state right now.
