Much of the Phoenix area gets at least some of its water from the Salt and Verde rivers. And at a time when water supplies on the Colorado River are in question, these two Arizona rivers could become even more important. So Annette McGivney wanted to see for herself where they started.

McGivney is a freelance journalist. She wrote about her quest to find the headwaters of the Salt and Verde Rivers in the April edition of Arizona Highways Magazine. The Show spoke with her about it and began by discussing how it’s not such an easy job to find and get to the headwaters of the Salt River.
