Arizona’s newly passed state budget brings investment to school facilities and a one-time $300 million infusion that districts can use to help keep teachers in their classrooms. But it didn’t put any caps on school vouchers.

Marisol Garcia is the president of the Arizona Education Association.

“It is disappointing that we will see this impact our entire general fund and not be able to do anything to escape it,” Garcia said.

The state budget was passed with bipartisan support and is expected to be signed by Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs. But Garcia says Republicans in control of the Legislature had no desire to implement caps.
