A wildfire south of Wickenburg that started Thursday afternoon has burned over 800 acres.

Tiffany Davila is with the State Forestry Department. She said the human-caused Cloud Fire is burning vegetation that’s typical to the area, but very dense.

“Now we just have fuel on top of fuel,” Davila said. “Once our temperatures start warming out and we see consistent temperatures of 100 degrees plus, that fuel dries out very quickly. And now we just basically have a tinderbox across the state.”

Davila said 75 firefighters from the Bureau of Land Management, Wickenburg and Buckeye Valley are working to contain the blaze.
