The Grand Canyon is visited by more than 4 million people annually, according to the National Park Service.

The Transcanyon Waterline at Grand Canyon National Park is set to undergo a more than $200 million renovation project this summer.

The pipeline distributes water from the Roaring Springs source on the North Rim, providing potable water for millions of visitors each year at facilities within the park.

The Show spoke with Laura Crossey, Ph.D., a professor at the University of New Mexico who specializes in groundwater research, about the project, and the state of the Grand Canyon’s water supply.
