What to do when driving in an Arizona dust storm
As the dust storm season approaches, drivers need to watch weather forecasts and heed warnings.
Steve Elliot with the Arizona Department of Transportation says if you get caught in the middle of a storm, slowly exit and stay far away from the road.
“When you get that warning, it's a good idea to get off the road and into a safe place, and the safest place is going to be a parking lot or your home or someplace where you’re not along that highway”, he said.
After exiting, drivers should take their foot off the brake and turn off all car lights to prevent other cars from following.
