Tempe considers new bike and pedestrian bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad
Tempe residents will be able to provide input on plans to build a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad. Located between Apache Boulevard and Broadway Road, the proposed bridge would also be ADA-accessible.
“We take these public comments and we get with the design team to make sure that we heard community’s concerns and the community’s input as well as the surrounding businesses," said Isaac Chavira, the city’s interim engineering and transportation director.
He also talked about the aim of the meetings.
"The goal with any other city of Tempe project is to really give the constituents, the residents an opportunity to voice their opinion, voice their thoughts, suggestions, concerns," he said.
A grant from the Maricopa Association of Governments funded the preliminary design. Those wanting to provide input on the proposed bridge can do so at a virtual or in-person meeting on Sept. 14.
