An Arizona legislative study committee has continued to hear testimony from several county shelters about animal control facility standards and related issues.

Many voiced budget shortages, out-of-date facilities, and not enough vets to meet the demands and needs of their community.

Michelle Ryan is the Coconino County Humane Association executive director.

‚ÄúSometimes we have a three- to five-month wait to get an animal spayed and neutered. And honestly in that amount of time, some of these animals have had litters once, if not, twice by then," Ryan said.

Next week, the committee plans to vote on several  measures to change the animal control standards and  present them as recommendations.
