Drug-trafficking ring in Tempe dismantled

Tempe police and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration say they have dismantled a drug-trafficking organization that was operating in Tempe. From Phoenix, Jude Joffe-Block reports that law enforcement are saying the ring had links to the Mexican Sinaloa Cartel.
The six-month investigation yielded three tons of marijuana, 30 pounds of methamphetamine, $2.4 million in cash, and even an airplane. That's according to a Tempe Police Department press release.
Tempe police allege the organization delivered drugs locally, as well as far as New York and Alabama. Law enforcement dubbed the investigation "Operation Nayarit Stampede." 20 people have been arrested. Tempe police will hold a press conference Friday afternoon.
