The health club giant LA Fitness has announced that it has acquired competitor 24 Hour Fitness clubs in Arizona.

The trade publication ClubIndustry.com reports there won’t be any changes at the gyms right away, but that its future plans remain open.

The move means that 24 Hour Fitness will no longer have a presence in Arizona.

The president of 24 Hour Fitness, Frank Napolitano, said his company plans to expand in the Midwest, and that the Phoenix area did not represent a core market for its clubs. Napolitano added that at this time, there are no plans to close any the eleven 24 Hour Fitness locations in the Phoenix area.

LA Fitness says it will honor the active memberships of 24 Hour Fitness members.

The deal is scheduled to be complete on Friday, which means members can use either gym.

LA Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness, the number one and two largest clubs in the country, combined to generate nearly $3.2 billion in revenue last year.
