McCain to address RNC on national security

August 29, 2012

Arizona Senator John McCain will address the Republican National Convention tonight, on the evening of his 76th birthday.

Four years ago, Arizona’s senior senator was officially nominated as the GOP’s presidential candidate in Saint Paul, Minn. He was defeated by Barack Obama.

McCain has said he considers himself fortunate to have dived back into Congressional work after the end of his Presidential campaign. He’s scheduled to address the convention Wednesday night to talk about national security. Vice Presidential nominee Paul Ryan is slated for the evening’s final speech.

McCain told reporters Tuesday that while he does feel some nostalgia for 2008’s RNC, tonight isn’t his show and he feels grateful he was asked to speak.
