The Mohave County Board of Supervisors has chosen a replacement for Kelli Ward in the Arizona Senate.

Sue Donahue is the former president of the Lake Havasu Republican Women, according to Mohave County Supervisor Buster Johnson. Donahue spent about 10 years working as Johnson’s administrative assistant before retiring earlier this year.

Donahue was the right choice to take over for Ward because of Donahue's experience working with local, state and federal officials, Johnson said. Donahue won’t allow her personal opinions to overshadow what the majority wants, and she has agreed not to seek another term in 2016, according to Johnson.

Ward resigned this month to concentrate on her Republican primary challenge of U.S. Sen. John McCain.
