In December 2014, the insurance company State Farm received 327 theft claims in Arizona, 44 more than the average month. According to a company news release, the average crime-related claim costs $2,789. 

If you're going to be away, the best thing you can do is make it look like your home. Set your lights on timers, put your mail on hold and ask your neighbors to keep watch.
