Glendale officials have revealed the names of three companies that submitted bids to replace the Arizona Coyotes as the manager of Gila River Arena, and one of them is a subcontractor for the hockey club.

The companies are AEG Facilities, SMG Worldwide Entertainment and Convention Venue Management and Spectra by Comcast Spectacor, which until this year was known in the Valley as Global Spectrum.

AEG Facilities is a California-based company, according to its website. The firm owns, controls or is affiliated with more than 100 venues worldwide, including the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. SMG and Spectra are Pennsylvania-based companies. SMG venues host more NCAA events than any other company in the United States, according to the company website.

Spectra operates Gila River Arena for the Coyotes. It also manages University of Phoenix Stadium. Spectra handles food service and hospitality, or ticketing and fan engagement for Arizona's three public universities, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Sloan Park, Goodyear Ballpark, Vee Quiva Casino, Lone Butte Casino, Wild Horse Pass Casino & Hotel, Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park and the Arizona Sports Foundation, said company spokesman Ike Richman.

A Coyotes official declined to comment on how the possibility of Spectra taking over arena management might impact the team’s decision whether to eventually leave Glendale.

Team officials said earlier this month that it's considering moving to Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum while a new arena is built in downtown Phoenix or the East Valley.

Finalists to become Glendale’s next arena manager will be announced in early January. The city council is scheduled to announce its selection on Feb. 8. The city can take control of the arena in July.

The council could decide to pass on all three proposals and request more bids.  But, if a new manager isn’t chosen by July, the Coyotes would likely continue to manage the arena for another year.
