A cleanup company accused of failing to properly handle medical waste has made reparations with the state of Arizona.

Aurora, Illinois-based Aftermath Solutions will provide free safety training to 5,000 Arizona first responders to settle state regulator claims that the company failed to register itself to handle biohazardous medical waste.

The company will also pay a $5,000 civil penalty under the consent judgment announced by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.

Aftermath’s website says its services include cleaning crime scenes, unattended deaths, industrial accidents and hoarding situations.

Arizona's lawsuit accused a company worker of transporting spilled medical waste from a body piercing shop to an unapproved location, which happened to be the worker's home.
