Impact of Election Day on Arizona

November 07, 2012

Despite a poor showing in Arizona, President Barack Obama was re-elected to a second term. Congressman Jeff Flake will become Senator Jeff Flake in January. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio was approved for a sixth term. And high-profile ballot initiatives proved very unpopular among Arizona voters.

Analysts Chris Herstam and Bob Grossfeld provided insights on why Richard Carmona and Paul Penzone made good showings but faced uphill climbs in trying to defeat Flake and Arpaio. Herstam and Grossfeld also discussed the impact of huge money on Election Day's outcomes and whether money from outside of Arizona could lead to surprises in the state's congressional races.
