Plan To Build 800-Acre Solar Farm Near Kingman Goes Forward

The Mohave County Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved a large solar farm northeast of downtown Kingman, and the company behind the project says it will generate enough power for about 14,000 homes.
The supervisors gave Gray Hawk Solar the green light to build a 70-megawatt solar farm on 800 acres of land.
There have been many proposals to build solar facilities in northwestern Arizona, but few pan out, according to Mohave County Supervisor Steven Moss.
During a presentation to the supervisors, a Gray Hawk Solar representative touted its wind and solar project in Cochise County. Moss said the company’s track record makes him optimistic the project near Kingman will get done.
“Gray Hawk seems like they’re honest businessmen,” Moss said. “They seem they have the competent expertise, and they do not appear to be speculators.”
The project is expected to create about 300 jobs and take between nine months and a year to finish.
Gray Hawk Solar did not indicate during the presentation when work will begin.
