How Were Latino Voters Affected By Arizona Voting Issues?
Arizona officials are beginning to weigh in on the long wait times many Maricopa County voters experienced during the state's presidential primary.
Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton has asked for a federal investigation into whether county elections officials illegally put fewer polling locations in poor or minority-heavy areas in Tuesday's voting.
David Adame, president and CEO of Chicanos Por La Causa, says the long waits at urban polling places were especially felt among the Valley’s Latino residents.
He urged leaders to take action and not just fall on the sword. “Rather than say I take the blame, tell me what you are going to do about it. Tell me what you’re going to do to fix the problem that has been going on. You can’t tell me that you couldn’t have anticipated this much better”
Adame calls the week’s voting trouble “unfortunate and unfair” to Arizona’s Latino community.
