Border Patrol agent accused of smuggling marijuana must stay in jail

A federal agent charged with helping smuggle drugs into the U.S. has been ordered to remain in jail.

When he was stopped, authorities say Anaya had nearly 150 pounds of marijuana. U.S. Magistrate Judge Michelle Burns has ruled the 25-year-old is a serious flight risk and granted a request from prosecutors to keep him in jail while he waits for trial.
Anaya’s pleaded not guilty to marijuana importation and other charges.
