The Arizona attorney general's office wants a court challenge to the state's presidential preference election thrown out, arguing state law doesn't allow the March 22 election results to be contested.

The lawsuit alleges the Arizona  Secretary of State and county recorders mishandled voter registration requests and improperly cut the number of polling places in Maricopa County, leading to hours-long waits for voters.

But the lawyer for a Tucson man who filed the suit says Attorney General Mark Brnovich is in essence arguing that the election wasn't a real election.

A Maricopa County judge will hold a hearing on the matter Tuesday.
