Barber protests closing of Tucson mail processing center

February 26, 2013

The Morris K. Udall Post Office in Tucson processed outgoing mail for the last time Friday, and U.S. Representative Ron Barber is upset about it.  Barber strongly opposes the Postal Service decision to close this mail processing center and send all outgoing mail in southern Arizona to Phoenix

He wrote in a letter to Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe on Friday that the decision will have a negative effect on those living and working in Tucson, including job losses and an increase in wait times for mail delivery. He says the move could cost Tucson up to 300 jobs.
