14 apply to replace Wilson on Maricopa County Board of Supervisors

March 12, 2013

Fourteen people have applied to replace Maricopa County Supervisor Max Wilson. He resigned due to health concerns. KJZZ’s Al Macias reports several current and former elected officials are vying to represent the county’s northwest district.

The list includes the mayors of Peoria and Litchfield Park, Bob Barrett and Tom Schoaf, and the vice mayor of Goodyear Joann Osborn. Several former state legislators have also submitted resumes.

There are two other names on the list that people may recognize include Clint Hickman, co-owner of Hickmans Egg Ranch, a long time business in the West Valley. The other recognizable name is former county schools superintendent Sandra Dowling.

She was the subject of an investigation initiated by the Board of Supervisors in 2006. That led to her criminal indictment, she ultimately pled guilty to one misdemeanor. She still has a lawsuit pending against the Board of Supervisors in connection with the investigation.

The deadline for applications is Friday, March 15. The board will then vote on the replacement for Supervisor Wilson, possibly as early as next week.
