Bridge remains nameless due to Santa Cruz County dispute

April 05, 2013

There is a bridge with no name over the Santa Cruz River. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held last week in the community of Rio Rico. But the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors can’t agree on what to call it.

The Nogales International reports, one board member wants the bridge to be named after Spanish explorer Juan Bautista de Anza and another thinks it should be called the Palo Parado Bridge. This is the second week that board has attempted to name the 820-foot crossing.
