How Law Enforcement Officers Are Trained In Tolerance

The conflict between an assistant professor of English at Arizona State University and a campus police officer in Tempe has gone viral.

Some are concerned that Professor Ersula Ore, who is African-American, may have been racially profiled by Officer Stewart Ferrin, since he appeared to aggressively pursue her merely for jaywalking.

But the Maricopa County Attorney's Office has decided to press criminal charges against Ore, who has pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault of an officer.

We spoke to Rabbi Steven Burg, the Eastern Director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and Museum of Tolerance—which conducts training for law enforcement officers related to tolerance and diversity.
