The day after the first presidential debate, as you might expect, there were two drastically different views from opposite sides of Arizona’s congressional contingent.

Democratic Congressman Ruben Gallego of Phoenix said it could not have been clearer to him who won the debate. He feels Hillary Clinton’s performance and Donald Trump’s
lack of preparation may have won over others outside of his party.

“I think there’s a lot of moderate and Republican voters and women who are now going to be looking at Hillary Clinton for the first time realizing that she is the best option considering that Donald Trump is the unfit candidate," said Gallego.

Not so, said Republican Trent Franks, who represents the Phoenix suburbs. He feels that Trump may have lost on style points, but “ran away with it” on substance. 

“What we saw in Donald Trump was a guy that’s his own man, somebody that’s a man of vision and achievement. Somebody that’s real and I truly believe someone that will make the world and America better for the world for my children and yours," Franks said.

A CNN poll conducted after the debate found 62 percent thought Clinton won, while just 27 percent said Trump.

The next presidential debate is scheduled for Oct. 4 in Virginia.
