Designers Get Creative To Get Out The Vote

Download mp3 (7.21 MB)There are going to be a lot of efforts between now and November 8 to try to get you to vote, but most of them probably won’t be as colorful – or graphic – as the one at the Arizona Capitol Museum.
That’s where more than 40 posters urge visitors, sometimes subtly, sometimes less so, to cast their ballots this November. The exhibit is called “Get Out the Vote: An Exhibition of Design for Civic Engagement,” and it’s the work of AIGA, the professional organization for design.
KJZZ's The Show met Liz Magura, the president of AIGA Arizona, the local chapter of the professional organization for design, at the exhibit.

"I think designers and graphic artists have a really powerful way to share the message around voting awareness," Magura said.

"I guess you could talk about it all you want, but when you see something that actually makes an impact on the way you think about voting I think it could really encourage you if you're not voting," Magura said.

"It takes all of us to make the decision, whatever the decision becomes," Magura said.

"It doesn't matter who you've voting for, just be a part of the country and do your civic duty and vote," Magura said.
