The Associated Press called the presidential race for Donald Trump around 12:30 a.m., but the counting goes on in Arizona.

Trump is leading Hillary Clinton among Arizona voters, according to results posted on the Arizona Secretary of State's Office website.

The Republican presidential candidate has 49 percent of the vote to Clinton's 45 percent, with about 83 percent of precincts reporting.

The chairman of Arizona’s Republican Party credits Donald Trump’s ability to capture voters’ imaginations for his success on Election Day. Robert Graham said during the primaries that Trump had an honest, organic message.

"More than anything, people are tired of politics as usual, and he’s shifted the entire process and the way of thinking going into elections for evermore, I believe," Graham said.

Graham’s name has been floated as a potential new chairman for the Republican National Committee. He said a lot of people have been supportive of that.

The Arizona Secretary of State's website showed a turnout at about 51 percent early Wednesday morning.
