Outgoing Maricopa County Supervisor Kunasek To Miss His Constituents
The year 2016 will go down as a year of change, not only in Washington, D.C. — but in Arizona’s largest county as well.
Maricopa County will say farewell to some high profile mainstays, including Sheriff Joe Arpaio, County Recorder Helen Purcell and longtime supervisor Andy Kunasek.
Kunasek has represented District 3, which includes parts of Phoenix and the county’s north-central region including Anthem, New River and Paradise Valley, for the past 19 years.
Kunasek says he’ll miss his constituents but not the gamesmanship at county hall.
“The politics, I felt like I was good at it, (but) I didn’t enjoy so much. And I would see often times people playing politics when the real result from those games, if you will, was there was waste," he said.
Kunasek will be replaced on the county board by former Phoenix City Councilman Bill Gates, who won election last month to fill the seat.
