Red Flag Warning issued for northern Arizona

June 13, 2013

The National Weather Service has a Red Flag Warning for signifying high fire danger in parts of northern Arizona through Thursday night. Meterologist Dave Vonderhide said visitors to national forests and recreational areas are urged not to start open-flame fires. Vonderhide said conditions are primed for wildfire ignition.

"Humidities, they need to be below 15 percent for a red flag warning but today some areas may get relative humidities as low as 6 percent so pretty much done dry," Vonderhide said.

He said northern Arizona will see winds out of the southwest with sustained speeds of 20 through 25 miles an hour, gusting up to 40 miles an hour.
