Officials advise residents near Doce Fire to purchase flood insurance

June 27, 2013

Residents in the area of the Doce Fire are being urged not to relax, just because the fire has been declared contained. They're being urged to buy flood insurance, to protect them from what may be coming, this summer. Denny Foulk is Yavapai County's Emergency Management Director.

“We need to get ahead of this,” Foulk said. “It’s always easier to run in front of the ball than behind it chasing it. If you know your property has the potential to flood, protect your property.”

Foulk says because the 6700-acre blaze began on National Forest land, federal officials are waiving the 30-day wait time to buy flood insurance. He says people in the area, can buy flood insurance right now.
