Wi-Fi internet service in coffee shops, airports and restaurants may seem standard, but what about public transportation?

The Valley’s light rail is testing out a public Wi-Fi service in two of its trains this month. Riders can look for a purple decal indicating if the train they're on is part of the trial.

Valley Metro spokesperson Ann Glaser said anyone who has used the service is invited to leave their feedback online.

“Then that way it can be evaluated and we can use that feedback to determine how we want to move forward next," Glaser said.

Glaser said Wi-Fi service could be extended to all trains by late 2017 or early 2018.

About three years ago, the City of Phoenix tried Wi-Fi out on two of its RAPID commuter buses. A spokesperson from the city said it has no immediate plans to extend Wi-Fi to other buses, but could consider it down the road.
