The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office says a third accused looter is under arrest for stealing items from homes that were evacuated as a result of the Yarnell hill fire. Sheriff’s spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says 22-year-old Thomas Adams was found with a gun taken from a Yarnell home.

“We’ve got apparent residents who have been up in the community for awhile who have claimed to actually assisted, in some cases, residents in their evacuation but are willing to return to steal frorm them,” D’Evelyn said.

D’Evelyn notes that these thefts are a big reason they are so careful about keeping people out of evacuation areas. Now, they are working to recover valuables from looters.
