It was an exciting and busy weekend in sports around the Valley.

Chris Owings singled home the winning run in the as the Arizona Diamondbacks scored twice with two outs in the 9th inning to complete a wild comeback on opening Day as they beat the Giants 6-5 Sunday at Chase Field.

The walk-off win in front of a sellout crowd in Phoenix was the first for new Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo.

“Well the first one is always special," Lovullo said. "It's opening day and you have a crowd of people who are vibrating and excited. And inside the walls of the clubhouse is something that I'm most proud of because these guys fought on Opening Day and they're setting the tone the way we asked them to.”

Arizona got a double and three singles in the 9th.

A.J. Pollock singled in the tying run and Owings dumped a base hit into right field to end it.

On a side note, major league baseball history was made as Giants starter Madison Bumgarner became the first pitcher ever to hit two home runs on opening day.

The teams resume the opening series Tuesday in Phoenix.
