As basketball fans make a mass exodus from the Valley, the region’s first ever Final Four appears to have been a huge success.

So much so that the NCAA is already talking about bringing it back again soon.

It was North Carolina’s fans who are leaving happy, many of them having made last-minute trips across the country to witness the Tarheels’ sixth men’s basketball title last night in Glendale.

That excitement was shared by NCAA President Mark Emmert, who hinted it may not be long before the area gets to host the event again.

“Well, it sure looks like it to me. We’ve had massive crowds, and the whole city has been abuzz with these games. I think it’s the perfect college basketball town,” Emmert said.

It also helps that University of Phoenix Stadium is a modern multipurpose facility capable of hosting an overflow crowd. More than 77,600 fans witnessed the semifinal games on Saturday.

But even perhaps happiest of all were the region’s tourism officials after Final Four events flooded the Valley with crowds — and went off without a hitch.
