GAO Investigates Navajo Nation Challenges

August 06, 2013

Representatives from the U.S. Government Accountability Office are visiting the Navajo Nation this week, as part of a study mandated by Congress into the challenges that American Indian tribes face in administering federal housing funds. American Indian tribes receive about 6-hundred-and-50 million dollars a year in Indian Housing Block Grant funding. But, officials from the Navajo Nation say they are facing challenges in developing homes. The G-A-O’s report will include recommendations for addressing these challenges.
