Smile! If you’re driving in Chandler you’re most likely on camera. More photo enforcement for traffic offenses is on the way.

There are 12 intersections in Chandler monitored by photo enforcement cameras. McQueen and Queen Creek Road is the latest to come online.

The cameras will turn on May 1. but traffic violators will get warnings through May 31. Starting June 1, if you’re caught speeding or blowing a red light you’ll get a real ticket. Offenders can resolve the ticket by paying a fine or going to traffic school.

Photo cameras around the valley were temporarily turned off last year when Attorney General Mark Brnovich issued an opinion saying vendors needed to get a private investigator license to operate.

Chandler contracts with Mesa-based American Traffic Solutions for the photo enforcement cameras. The current $2.5 million contract lasts until 2021.
