Town Hall Attendees Overwhelmingly Against Syria Attacks

September 06, 2013

A town hall on Thursday with Arizona Sen. John McCain became contentious, as many in attendance made it clear where they stand on a military strike against Syria.“You don’t respect our view,” one attendee said. “We didn’t send you to get war for us, we sent you to stop the war.”

McCain expressed sympathy for the anti-war sentiments but said selling the people about the need for an attack on Bashar Assad's regime is not up to him.

“I understand the cynicism, the war weariness that most Americans have and many Americans have,” McCain said. “The president of the United States is going to have to make a strong case to get the approval of the American people.”

More than 100 people turned out for the session and they were overwhelmingly against air or missile strikes on Syria.
