The Chandler Police Department recommended the Maricopa County Attorney Office charge Athletic Director Shawn Rustad for failing to report football players were involved in hazing at Hamilton High School.

Police say Rustad received an anonymous voice message alleging football players were being picked on or harassed in the locker room between January and February of this year.

The recommendation says Rustad interviewed four juveniles in the football program about the allegations and told their coach but did not tell their parents, Chandler police or the school resource officer.

Chandler police say varsity players committed multiple physical and sexual assaults against three victims under the age of 15. The assaults were recorded and posted to social media.

Police previously have recommended charges against former football coach Steve Belles and Principal Ken James.
