Phoenix is replacing the Pango pay-to-park app with Parkmobile.

The app, which is already used at parking meters in various cities such as Tempe, allows for customers to extend their parking meters, pay for parking and give retailers the choice of giving codes to validate customers parking.

According to Monica Hernandez, spokeswoman for the cities Street Transportation Department, Phoenix began to utilize the apps for visitors’ convenience.

“The whole idea is to make your experience a lot more convenient and easy when coming into the downtown area," Hernandez said.

The city is switching over to Parkmobile on Dec. 1. There are no changes in rates or parking hours.
