In Mexico, a heated debate is happening as the Senate revises a new law that could give more legal faculties to the military.

If approved, the Law of Internal Security would allow the Mexican president to deploy the army under situations considered to jeopardize public safety.

The law would also allow state and local governments to request for military presence.
